Angel Reese Responds to Chicago Sky’s Latest Surge
The Chicago Sky may have stumbled out of the gate, but rookie star Angel Reese isn’t letting the season slip away without a fight.
After dropping to 5-11 following a tough loss to the Atlanta Dream on June 22, the Sky flipped the script. Since then, they’ve notched key wins, including a thrilling 92-85 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday. That night, Reese delivered her best performance yet—a season-high 24 points and 16 rebounds, becoming the first player in WNBA history to record four straight games with 15 or more boards.
“We Got Tired of Losing,” Reese Says
When asked about the team’s recent shift, Reese credited a change in mentality:
“Since that Atlanta game, you can see a different curve from us… the intensity, the energy. Everybody’s just coming out hard and wanting to win.”
She added, “We’ve let a lot of games slip out of our hands, and we’re tired of it… you either sit with it or boss up.”
Reese backed up those words with dominant numbers. This week, she was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week. Averaging 19.7 points, 17.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals over her last three games. She shot nearly 49% from the field and over 92% from the free throw line.

Can the Sky Keep the Momentum Going?
Despite their 5-11 record, the Sky have shown they can hang with top-tier teams when locked in. With half the season remaining, the message from Reese is clear: they’re not backing down.
Their next big test comes Sunday against the Minnesota Lynx, and if this new version of Chicago sticks around, the rest of the WNBA better take notice.
