Fans Rip TNT’s NASCAR Coverage as Dale Earnhardt Jr. ignored

TNT Sports is catching serious heat after NASCAR fans, and even Dale Earnhardt Jr. himself, called out the network’s race-day production failures. During the Autotrader EchoPark Automotive 400, Earnhardt’s repeated efforts to draw attention to on-track incidents were seemingly ignored. Further leaving fans frustrated and vocal on social media.

After two weeks of road course racing, the Cup Series returned to the ovals, but the broadcast couldn’t keep up. Tyler Reddick’s panicked 13-word radio call and Denny Hamlin’s expletive-laced message were just some of the dramatic moments TNT failed to capture properly, despite Dale Jr.’s live commentary flagging them in real-time.

“It takes the NASCAR TNT production/camera operators 8 years to see what Dale Jr. sees in 4 seconds.” one fan raged on X.

Dale Jr. Praises Prime Video, Fans Demand Higher Standards

TNT’s failure was made even more glaring in contrast to Amazon Prime Video’s highly praised coverage. Specfically during its five-race NASCAR package. Viewers applauded Prime for dynamic race coverage, sharp camera work, and attention to mid-pack battles that TNT largely ignored.

However, Earnhardt Jr. himself admitted on his podcast that transitioning from Amazon’s smooth broadcast team to TNT felt “bittersweet.” Amazon pulled in an average of 2.16 million viewers per event, drawing a younger demo TNT is now struggling to reach.

“TV production is showing they don’t care about racing.” Wrote by a disappointed fan. Further hinting that NBC’s upcoming stint could make or break NASCAR’s TV future.

What’s Next for NASCAR Broadcasts

With the final Amazon race coming up and TNT on deck, fans are hoping the next production crew learns from these missteps. Otherwise, NASCAR risks alienating its loyal audience at a crucial moment in the season.
