Angel Reese-Chennedy Carter Combination
Chennedy Carter may be off the WNBA court, but she’s still finding ways to make her presence felt. This time, through a throwback that stirred up major conversation. The former Chicago Sky guard posted a screenshot on her Instagram story marking the one-year anniversary of her electric 33-point game against the Seattle Storm on July 5, 2024. In that same game, Angel Reese added 27 points and 10 rebounds, forming a duo that looked poised to take over the league.
Yet today, Carter is unsigned. And fans are still trying to make sense of it.
Was Caitlin Clark the Final Straw?
Despite her offensive firepower and a 2024 season that saw her average 17.5 points per game. Carter was left off every WNBA roster in the 2025 season. Many point to her controversial foul on Caitlin Clark early last season. This triggered widespread backlash and drew unwanted attention to both Carter and Reese. While the play wasn’t overly violent, it became a national talking point, especially with Reese clapping on the bench in apparent support.
But Carter’s history of locker room issues predates the incident. She was previously suspended by the Atlanta Dream in 2021. And then bounced around after a turbulent stint with the Sparks. But fans argue that her skill set should outweigh the drama.

A Career in Limbo, but Not Forgotten
The WNBA may have moved on, but Carter’s Instagram post made it clear she hasn’t. It was both a celebration of past dominance and a not-so-subtle nudge to the league: Don’t forget who I am.

Her partnership with Angel Reese last season brought out the best in both players. And while Reese continues to rise as a WNBA All-Star, Carter remains on the outside looking in. The question now is: Will a team be bold enough to give her a second or third chance?
If her latest post is any indication, Carter still believes she belongs. And a growing number of fans might agree.
