An intriguing inscription appears beneath the star monument in 1996’s Super Mario 64. It appears to read “L Is Real 2401.” Players speculate it could relate to Luigi and mean there are 2401 stars in the game. They further speculate that, once Mario has collected all 2041 stars in the game – if he returns to the fountain — Luigi will appear.

Irrational Games

Some consider Songbird from the 2013 first-person shooter BioShock Infinite to be one of the most tragic video game characters ever created. It’s assumed, but unclear, that Songbird was a person who was then altered by experiments to become a giant, robotic bird-like creature and inhuman.

3. What Happened to the World?
