Angel Reese’s Chicago Sky made headlines on Monday with two back-to-back roster changes. And it sparked instant backlash from fans. First, the team waived veteran guard Moriah Jefferson, whose stint with the Sky was hampered by injuries. She had appeared in just 19 of the team’s 41 games since her arrival in 2024 and was sidelined most recently with a leg issue.
Moments later, the Sky announced the signing of Sevgi Uzun, a 5-foot-10 guard who was waived by the Phoenix Mercury earlier this season. Uzun averaged just 1.6 points and 2.0 assists in seven games with Phoenix. Thus she hadn’t made much of an impression before being released.

Chicago Sky Fans Sound Off: “Trade Angel Reese Now”
While teams often make quiet roster adjustments midseason, this move lit a firestorm on social media, especially among Angel Reese fans. Many questioned why the Sky would pass on other notable free agents, like former player Chennedy Carter, and settle for Uzun. The perceived downgrade in talent triggered calls for Reese, one of the team’s brightest young stars, to seek a trade.
“Ok I’ve seen enough. … Reese to the Aces. A’ja needs help lol,” one Instagram user wrote.
“Listen the moment Angel leaves this team I would be so glad. She is literally the only reason I watch,” said another, echoing the sentiment that Reese is carrying fan interest all by herself.
Others suggested potential landing spots: “Or NY, I’ve been praying for her to be a Liberty since day one 😂,” one fan said. Another joked, “Lynx or Aces and I’ll start crip walking omm 😂😂😂.”
It wasn’t all jokes either. One blunt response summed up the mood: “This team sucks. Angel and Kamilla need to get the hell out of here.”
Though there’s no indication that Angel Reese is considering a move, the noise from the fanbase is growing louder. Whether the Sky’s front office will listen or make another surprise move remains to be seen.
