Calls Mount on Chicago Sky Against Angel reese post-game snub

Angel Reese Makes History

Angel Reese returned to the DMV with another record-setting performance Tuesday night, but her efforts weren’t enough to earn her team the win, or even postgame recognition.

The Chicago Sky fell 81-79 to the Washington Mystics in a tightly contested battle at EagleBank Arena. Angel Reese tallied her sixth consecutive double-double, leading all players with 22 points and 15 rebounds, while adding four assists and shooting 80% from the free-throw line.

But when the team announced its player of the game afterward, Reese’s name was nowhere to be found.

Sky Crown Elizabeth Williams, Fans Push Back

Instead, the Sky selected Elizabeth Williams as their X-factor of the night. The veteran forward posted a season-high 20 points, with seven rebounds and one block.

The team celebrated the performance on social media:

“our X factor. SEASON-HIGH FROM EWILL.” via X

But fans weren’t buying it.

Many questioned how Angel Reese’s dominant night, her sixth game in a row with 15+ rebounds, wasn’t honored. The rookie now owns a WNBA record for most consecutive double-doubles, continuing to impress in her second season.

One fan posted:

“How do you ignore 22 and 15?? Be serious.”

Another added:

“Reese outplayed everyone. That’s not an opinion — it’s the stat sheet.”

Sky Look to Rebound Quickly

With the Dallas Wings visiting Chicago on Wednesday, the Sky won’t have much time to dwell on the controversy. The game will also mark the Chicago debut of Paige Bueckers, adding another layer of intrigue.

Still, as Angel Reese continues her tear through the league, fans are watching closely to see if her team gives her the recognition she’s clearly earned.
