Controversial Poker Star Banned from WSOP After Heated Clash

William Kassouf Booted from WSOP After Spiraling Outburst

The World Series of Poker just dealt a hard fold to one of poker’s most divisive personalities; William Kassouf.

Known for his excessive stalling, non-stop chatter, and psychological tactics at the table. Kassouf was banned from the remainder of the 2025 WSOP events after a fiery confrontation and repeated rules violations.

On Day 7 of the No-Limit Hold’Em Main Event in Las Vegas, Kassouf’s antics came to a boiling point. After being penalized for a shot clock violation, he lashed out at officials and verbally berated opponents, earning a one-round penalty.

The final straw came after his elimination, when he unleashed a tirade on the table:

“Disgrace. You’re all pathetic… I’ll remember your faces. I’ll see each one of you next year. I’m going to bang you all up.”

Seconds later, tournament director Dennis Jones informed Kassouf he was banned, and security promptly escorted him from the Horseshoe Events Center.

Kassouf’s Tactics Push WSOP Officials Over the Edge

The 43-year-old Brit has always been a polarizing figure in the poker world, but this time, his behavior crossed a line.

Throughout the tournament, opponents and officials grew frustrated with Kassouf’s delays. He routinely stalled during hands, sometimes up to four minutes forcing dealers and players to repeatedly call the clock on him.

By Day 6, WSOP officials imposed a 10-second shot clock for every decision, a rare and controversial step. Kassouf didn’t take it well. He clashed frequently with WSOP VP Jack Effel and never adjusted his behavior.

Despite the chaos, Kassouf still walked away with $300,000 in winnings.

In a post-ban interview with PokerGO, Kassouf doubled down on his playing style.

“I’m here to play my game my way… I gave [other players] respect. They want to call a clock on me after 10 seconds?”

Kassouf, who is also a lawyer, insisted that his opponents were just uncomfortable with his aggressive, talk-heavy approach. But the poker community seems united in their response: enough is enough.

Whether you find him entertaining or unbearable, William Kassouf has once again made headlines. This time, for all the wrong reasons. With the WSOP ban in place for the rest of 2025, it remains to be seen whether he’ll return next year with a different approach… or double down on the chaos.
