Diamondbacks Fan Ejected After Controversial Interference Review

In the eighth inning of the Arizona Diamondbacks’ 4-2 win over the San Francisco Giants, tempers briefly flared when Christian Koss launched a deep fly ball to center field that looked like it could tie the game. As Tim Tawa leaped at the wall to make the grab, a fan in a red D-backs shirt reached over with his glove and snagged the ball.

Initially ruled an out due to fan interference, the play was challenged by the Giants. Upon review, it was determined that Tawa wasn’t in position to catch the ball and there was no contact made. As a result, the call was overturned and Koss was credited with a double, not a home run, because the ball hadn’t fully cleared the wall.

Fan Gets Tossed, Giants Fall Short

Despite the favorable ruling, the Giants couldn’t capitalize. Rafael Devers and Heliot Ramos both struck out, leaving Koss stranded. Meanwhile, Eugenio Suárez added a solo shot for Arizona in the bottom half, sealing the 4-2 victory.

As for the fan? Despite being cleared of interference, he was still escorted out of the stadium, likely due to reaching over the wall during live play. The moment quickly went viral on social media, with fans debating whether he should have been removed at all.

Momentum Shift for Arizona

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Diamondbacks, who now sit at 42-42. The Giants, on the other hand, dropped to 45-40 and have now lost six of their last seven.

Even though the controversial fan interaction briefly altered the game’s momentum, the Giants still had their chance and missed it.
