Jordan Spieth Makes Scottish Open Decision Ahead of PGA Major

Jordan Spieth is sitting out this week’s Genesis Scottish Open—but for a heartwarming reason and a hopeful update.

The 31-year-old PGA star revealed during a Monday appearance on the Up & Adams Show that he and his wife Annie are officially on “baby watch” as they prepare to welcome their third child. The baby is expected any day now, which explains his absence from the field in Scotland.

“It’s coming—we’re on baby watch officially,” Spieth said with a smile.

Spieth also addressed his recent injury scare, which forced him to withdraw from the Travelers Championship last month. He assured fans that he’s fully healed from the neck issue that cut his last tournament short.

“I’m good. It was a weird neck spasm thing that came up… I just couldn’t get through the round,” he explained. “I have no restrictions.”

Despite missing the Scottish Open, Spieth plans to compete in The Open Championship, which tees off July 17 in Great Britain. He noted that he’ll likely arrive later than usual to accommodate the timing of the baby’s birth but is already ramping up preparations.

Spieth’s 2025 PGA season has been a mixed bag. Though winless since 2022, he’s still just one major shy, the PGA Championship—of completing the elusive career Grand Slam. Ranked No. 48 in the world, Spieth could make headlines if he captures his second Open title next week, having previously won in 2017.

With a healthy swing and a growing family, Jordan Spieth is aiming for a double win this July. One on the course, and one at home.
