11 MLB Ballparks That Need a Wrecking Ball

Not every ballpark can be Wrigley or Oracle. Some stadiums feel like relics from another era—one with worse food, weirder turf, and vibes that scream “minor league energy.”

While plenty of parks have character and charm, these could use a serious facelift—or, let’s be honest, a bulldozer. Whether it’s outdated design, lackluster atmosphere, or just plain ugly sightlines, these stadiums are begging for a fresh start.

It feels more like a mall with a baseball diamond in the middle than a major league stadium. The weird fish tank energy and awkward vibe haven’t exactly turned Miami into a baseball hotspot.

10. Tropicana Field – Tampa Bay Rays

The Trop looks and feels like baseball was forced into a warehouse. The roof is low, the lighting is weird, and the overall experience is just… gray.

9. Rogers Centre – Toronto Blue Jays

It was cool when it opened in the ’80s, but the novelty of a retractable roof wore off decades ago. Now it just feels like watching a game in a giant, lifeless airplane hangar.

8. Guaranteed Rate Field – Chicago White Sox

Even the name feels like a punishment. It’s not the worst stadium ever, but it has zero soul and zero reason to stay standing.

7. Angel Stadium – Los Angeles Angels

It’s old, bland, and feels like it’s been stuck in 2003 for twenty years. Mike Trout deserves a palace, not a relic.

6. American Family Field – Milwaukee Brewers

There’s a slide. That’s about it. The whole place feels like it’s trying too hard to be quirky and not hard enough to be iconic.

5. Chase Field – Arizona Diamondbacks

Mar 30, 2025; Phoenix, Arizona, USA; A general view as the retractable roof is open for a game between the Chicago Cubs and Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field.

A retractable roof in the desert makes sense, but everything else about Chase Field screams outdated. It feels more like a casino lobby than a ballpark.

4. Great American Ball Park – Cincinnati Reds

It’s got a great name, but the ballpark is aggressively average. It lacks the historic charm of old parks and the modern upgrades of new ones.

3. Comerica Park – Detroit Tigers

The Tigers deserve better than a park that feels like it was designed by someone who forgot people would actually be watching baseball. It’s oddly spaced out and never quite nailed the fan experience.

2. Nationals Park – Washington Nationals

It’s fine, but it has all the personality of a DMV waiting room. You’d never guess this place hosted a World Series parade just a few years ago.

1. RingCentral Coliseum – Oakland Athletics

March 30, 2023; Oakland, California, USA; General view of RingCentral Coliseum during the seventh inning between the Oakland Athletics and the Los Angeles Angels.

Let’s be honest, it should’ve been condemned years ago. The A’s were basically squatting in a concrete ghost town with possums and plumbing problems.
