Buzz Lightyear. Aladdin. Mickey frickin’ Mouse. You know these names and love them! Disney understands this, which is why they continue to put out great video games featuring some of the most beloved characters of all time.
But while some of these top ten Disney games are movie-inspired, you might be surprised to find out that there are also some truly unique and original games included, too!
10. Lego The Incredibles
Lego The Incredibles is a 2018 action-adventure game based on the film series of the same name. The player can control superheroes and villains alike from both films. The gameplay is similar to previous Lego games, featuring lighthearted wit, gags, and cheesy humor. It’s designed for younger players with its puzzles, combat, and two-player cooperation.
9. Disney Speedstorm
Disney Speedstorm is a free-to-play 2023 Tron-esque racing game ala Mario Kart. It’s themed after various Disney and Pixar films and their characters. They race on a variety of tracks themed after the worlds of their films and franchises. The visuals and sound are excellent.
8. Aladdin
Aladdin is a platform game released in 1993, based on the 1992 film. It was big a bestseller. It has the look and feel of a Disney movie, thanks to its cartoon graphics, as well as its humor. The SNES and Sega versions differ, with the latter considered one of the greatest 16-bit platformers ever.
7. The Lion King
Based on the hit movie, The Lion King is a 1994 platform game. Its rich graphics and film soundtrack transport players into the film’s world. In the game, Simba grows from a young cub into an adult lion to face his ultimate foe: Scar. It’s been re-released for a whole new generation of gamers.
6. Toy Story 3
In story mode, Toy Story 3 loosely re-creates the events of the film in this 2010 platform game. Switching to Toy Box mode, players enter the fictional universe of Woody’s Roundup TV series for an open-world town management simulation. The game’s open world and vast content make it one of Disney’s best.
5. Castle of Illusion
Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is a 1990 platform game. It’s received praise for its tight controls, unique visual style, and level design. Players navigate various rooms of the castle, which open out into different pocket dimensions. It was remastered and released in 2013, and it’s still available in the Xbox store.
4. Disney Classic Games Collection
Bundling 3 of its best platformers in HD is 2021’s Disney Classic Games Collection. It’s based on three of its most beloved films, allowing gamers to play as their favorite characters. It includes Aladdin, The Jungle Book, and The Lion King. It features multiple versions of each game, as well as new features and enhancements.
3. Disney Illusion Island
Released in 2023, Disney Illusion Island is a 2D side-scrolling, four-person, modern co-op platformer. It has a nonlinear, utility-gated game structure of exploration and progression. It’s a four-person multiplayer game loaded with humor and cartoon-quality cutscenes. The later levels definitely deliver a challenge. It can also be played in solo mode.

2. Disney Dreamlight Valley
Disney Dreamlight Valley is a 2023 life simulation adventure game. It’s like Animal Crossing mixed with various Pixar and Disney characters. You play as an adult revisiting your old Disney pals. You have godlike control of your hamlet, deciding who stays and goes. It’s slow and relaxing; the whole emphasis is on creating.

1. Kingdom Hearts
With a unique combination of action and RPG elements, 2022’s Kingdom Hearts is the first in the successful series. It’s inspired by its parent franchise, Final Fantasy, while adding Disney characters. The gaming experience is surreal and continues to delight and enthrall players. Kingdom Hearts is considered one of the greatest video games of all time.
