Micah Parsons May Leave Cowboys Over $52M Contract Snub

Jake Ferguson Gets Paid, But What About Micah Parsons?

The Dallas Cowboys made headlines by handing tight end Jake Ferguson a hefty four-year, $52 million contract with $30 million guaranteed. While Ferguson is a dependable player, many fans and insiders were left scratching their heads. Why now? And why not Micah Parsons?

Ferguson had a solid 2024 season, catching 59 passes for 494 yards. He also served as a key blocker. But that payday came while Dallas’ top defensive star, Parsons, is still without a long-term extension.

Parsons has been the anchor of the Cowboys’ defense for the past four years, racking up 52.5 sacks in just 63 games. He’s shown up for camp, hasn’t demanded a holdout, but he’s clearly frustrated.

“There’s not really much movement,” Parsons said when asked about contract talks. “I’ve always stated I want to be here… but at the end of the day, they sign the checks.”

And he made it even clearer: “If they don’t want me here, they don’t want me here. I’ll go on about my business.”

Jerry Jones Playing a Risky Game Again

This isn’t the first time Jerry Jones has delayed rewarding a top star. Just last year, he waited too long with CeeDee Lamb, who skipped training camp until pressure forced action. Now it’s déjà vu, except this time, it’s Parsons, the face of the defense.

Across the NFL, elite pass rushers like T.J. Watt, Maxx Crosby, and Myles Garrett are earning top-tier money. Yet the Cowboys are dragging their feet with a generational talent still in his prime.

Parsons isn’t making noise just for attention, he’s making a point. If the Cowboys want to keep him, they need to act fast. Otherwise, they risk losing the heart of their defense.

Time’s ticking. And if Jerry waits too long again, he might find himself facing a nightmare scenario, watching Parsons dominate in another uniform.
