Dodge Eyes NASCAR Cup Comeback, Insider Reveals

Dodge’s NASCAR Comeback Gathers Speed

Dodge could be making its long-awaited return to the NASCAR Cup Series, and the latest update comes from one of the sport’s most trusted insiders. According to The Athletic’s Jordan Bianchi, the car manufacturer has held serious discussions with both current and prospective teams, signaling that big moves may be on the horizon.

“Dodge has had conversations with several parties representing teams, both existing and prospective, including at least one current Cup organization,” Bianchi reported. The buzz inside the garage suggests Dodge is more likely to pair with an established team to avoid the growing pains that usually plague newcomers.

Ram Already Confirmed for NASCAR Truck Series

Dodge’s return would follow on the heels of Ram’s re-entry into the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, confirmed back in June for the 2026 season. John Probst, NASCAR’s EVP and Chief Racing Development Officer, acknowledged the behind-the-scenes efforts dating back to late 2024: “I know that this is something that we have been talking about for a long time… This is a big moment for our entire sport.”

Ram, which split off from Dodge in 2010, last competed in NASCAR in 2013. Meanwhile, Dodge’s last Cup Series race was in 2012, when Brad Keselowski captured a championship behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger for Team Penske.

Which Teams Might Partner With Dodge?

While no official names have been released, Bianchi hinted that at least one current Cup Series team is seriously considering a deal with Dodge. The insider noted that aligning with an already-operational team would help Dodge hit the ground running and sidestep the early struggles new manufacturers often face.

The return also has the attention of veterans like Kevin Harvick, who said during his Happy Hour podcast: “They were always such a big part of the Truck Series… They’re just a NASCAR brand. I don’t know why they ever left.”

Dodge rejoining the NASCAR Cup Series could shake up the manufacturer landscape, bringing a new layer of competition to the sport. With the potential for more OEMs and stronger brand rivalries, fans could be treated to a new era of Cup racing drama starting as early as 2026.

Whether you’re a Dodge loyalist or just a fan of the sport’s evolving ecosystem, this could be one of the biggest developments NASCAR has seen in over a decade.
