When it comes to console exclusives, there’s really only two names to consider: Nintendo and Sony. The PlayStation 5, despite not having a Mario-sized mascot, has become THE console to own for serious gamers. And that’s mostly thanks to some truly incredible exclusives.

10. Ratchet & Clank
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart is a third-person shooter platform game released in 2021 and the ninth in the series. Even though the writing and gameplay are aimed at a younger audience, it’s still incredibly fun to play. The story and cast of characters are strong. The game’s exploration and boss fights will keep you engaged.
9. Gran Turismo 7
Gran Turismo 7 from 2022 is the thirteenth in the series of racing simulation games. With an incredible selection of cars and tracks, it’s the best installment released in a decade. Best of all, the game has added full PSVR 2 support so players can immerse themselves in stunning virtual reality.
8. Demon’s Souls
Demon’s Souls is a 2020 remake of the 2009 RPG classic that pioneered the genre. There are plenty of major upgrades to the original without sacrificing its charm. The graphics are vastly superior, including the animations. The rolling is better, and loading times have been sped up. The gameplay has improved and new features have been added.
7. Horizon Forbidden West
Horizon Zero Dawn from 2017 was one of the most compelling sci-fi stories in gaming. The 2022 sequel Horizon Forbidden West builds on the first magnificently with a brand-new open world of the Western US suffering the same post-apocalyptic fate. Improvements abound, including combat, map traversal, and new great characters.
6. Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered includes the original 2018 game, its free downloadable content, The City That Never Sleeps, three additional spider suits, and more. Improvements include performance optimizations, better graphics, and “near-instant loading.” The enhancements take the original to a new level. Its open world and version of New York City are some of the best in gaming.
5. Ghost of Tsushima
Ghost of Tsushima was released in 2020, with a version subtitled “Director’s Cut” released in 2021 that featured the Iki Island expansion. The game delivers an immersive experience that emulates the hardships of life in feudal Japan. The director’s cut includes several major improvements that deliver better combat, sharper graphics, and faster loading times.
4. Uncharted
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection brings remastered versions of 2016’s Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and 2017’s Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The remastering delivers significant improvements in graphics and gameplay. Uncharted 4 was already one of the best on PS4 and even better on PS5. These action-adventure games combined melee combat with puzzle-solving and platformer elements.
3. Spider-Man 2
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from 2023 isn’t a remaster of 2004’s game of the same name (sans Marvel in the title), it’s a brand-new creation. As such, everything is top-notch, from storytelling to graphics to gameplay. It also features the best digital recreations of New York City anywhere. It’s a bestseller and has won numerous awards.

2. The Last of Us Part 1
The Last of Us Part 1 is a 2022 remake of the 2013 game The Last of Us. The game’s incredible story is the prime reason it’s a must-play. This version features greatly enhanced exploration, combat, gameplay, and more. It’s vastly superior to the original and runs incredibly well on PS5.

1. God of War Ragnarok
God of War Ragnarok from 2022 is the ninth in the series. Expectations for this installment were high and it delivered well beyond what anyone expected. It’s the perfect sequel in this series based on Norse mythology. The game excels at every level, from weaponry to combo-based combat, and from puzzle-solving to role-playing elements.
