Congratulations Pour In as Michael Vick Begins Coaching Era

Michael Vick Begins Coaching Career at Norfolk State

A new chapter has begun for Michael Vick, the legendary dual-threat quarterback who changed the game forever. The former Falcons and Eagles star is stepping into the next phase of his football journey as a head coach.

Vick was officially named the head coach at Norfolk State University back in December. The HBCU, located just 40 minutes from his hometown of Newport News, Virginia, is the perfect place for the four-time Pro Bowler to start this next chapter.

On Monday, Vick took to X and posted a photo in his new NSU team colors with the caption: “Year 1.”

Fans Celebrate Vick’s Return to the Sidelines

The reaction was instant, and emotional. Fans, friends, and former players filled the comments with encouragement:

“Let’s go! Chess not checkers!!!” — Cynthia Frelund

“I still remember your rookie year. This is wild,” one fan wrote.

“Best of luck to you this season, Coach Vick🫶🏽,” added another.

Former NFL wideout Jacquez Green even chimed in: “Let’s go Vick!!!”

Others promised to attend homecoming, while some just shared their excitement. “I’m so happy for him,” one user said.

A True Redemption Arc

Since retiring from the NFL in 2017, Vick has been working to reshape his legacy. He became an advocate against animal cruelty, served as a FOX Sports analyst, and even interned with Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs, just before the team’s dynasty began.

In his announcement with Norfolk State, Vick shared his excitement:

“A prestigious HBCU with a rich athletics history, NSU provides a tremendous environment for students to reach their full potential… I am honored to join the Norfolk State family.”
