Former 1st-Round QB Struggling Badly At JETS Training Camp

Jets Fans Worried as Justin Fields Struggles in Training Camp

Justin Fields was supposed to be the fresh start for the New York Jets after the Aaron Rodgers experiment ended. But instead of excitement, training camp has brought frustration. The former first-round pick is off to a shaky start, and the numbers don’t lie.

According to SNY’s Connor Hughes, Fields completed just 9 of 17 passes with two interceptions during a recent practice session. He didn’t complete a single pass beyond five air yards and took three sacks. It didn’t get better in the 7-on-7 drills either, where he went 1-for-4 with another interception.

Over the last three practices, Fields has gone just 15-for-43 (a brutal 34%) with two picks in full-team work. That’s the kind of stat line that draws groans, not just from coaches but from fans, media, and maybe even teammates.

Fans Sound Off on Justin Fields’ Struggles

It didn’t take long for fans to start speaking up. Some questioned why Tyrod Taylor wasn’t given a fair shot. Others compared Fields’ completion percentage to a batting average. One fan even predicted the Steelers-Jets game would end 6-3 at this rate.

Of course, it’s early, and Fields has reportedly been dealing with a toe injury. But this is New York. Patience is short, and the Jets haven’t had a true franchise quarterback since the Ford administration, as one fan put it.

Either the Jets’ defense is way ahead of schedule, or the team might be looking at another long year under center. Offensive coordinator Aaron Glenn has work to do, and Fields needs to show progress fast. Otherwise, the pressure will only mount.

Training camp isn’t the time to panic, but it is the time to watch closely. And right now, the Jets’ quarterback situation is looking far too familiar for fans hoping for change in 2025.
