Derek Jeter Boldly Picks Yankees to Win 2025 World Series
With the MLB All-Star break now behind us, teams are preparing for the high-stakes second half of the season and Derek Jeter has already made his World Series pick. The Yankees legend and current FOX Sports analyst didn’t even blink when asked to name his prediction.
New York Over Cubs in the Fall Classic
“So this year I am going with the New York Yankees,” Jeter said during FOX’s All-Star Game broadcast.
“[The] Yankees are gonna beat the [Chicago] Cubs in the World Series,” he added. “Going with the Yankees because [Brian] Cashman basically said he’s all in, so I expect the Yankees to do something at the trade deadline.”
It’s a confident call from The Captain. And it puts some pressure on Cashman to make impactful moves before the July 31 trade deadline.

Yankees Face Tough Path in AL East
Jeter’s faith in the Bronx Bombers isn’t without merit, especially considering they reached the World Series in 2024 before falling to the Los Angeles Dodgers in five games. Still, New York has work to do. They’re currently second in the AL East with a 53–43 record, trailing the Toronto Blue Jays (55–41) by two games.
They’ll also have to fend off the surging Boston Red Sox, who entered the break riding a 10-game win streak and sitting just three games out of first place.
With the second half heating up, all eyes will be on the Yankees, and whether they can live up to Jeter’s championship expectations.
