Shedeur Sanders Off to Slow Start at Browns Camp
Shedeur Sanders had a forgettable day at Cleveland Browns training camp on Wednesday, completing just 3 of 8 passes during team drills. It marked a quiet step back for the rookie quarterback, who had previously made waves on social media during OTAs.
Sanders worked primarily with backup units during both 7-on-7 and 11-on-11 sessions. Observers noted he held onto the ball too long—an issue that had followed him from Colorado into the NFL Draft process. He remains fourth on the Browns’ QB depth chart, behind Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and Dillon Gabriel.
Despite the underwhelming outing, Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot believes a fair assessment won’t come until Sanders sees first- or second-team reps. “It will be easier to evaluate Sanders when he earns some reps with better personnel,” Cabot said.

Stefanski Eyes Swift QB Decision
Head coach Kevin Stefanski made it clear: the team wants to make a quarterback decision “sooner than later.”
“I have a plan that’s in pencil,” Stefanski told reporters. “We want to put our guys in position to be evaluated and make an informed choice.”
During Wednesday’s session, Pickett took first-team reps, followed by Gabriel and then Sanders. Stefanski emphasized that the order of reps could change daily and isn’t a true reflection of the depth chart.

The team will reassess the quarterback race after four days of camp, ahead of their first preseason game against the Carolina Panthers on August 8.
Though he faces long odds as a fifth-round pick, Shedeur Sanders is determined to make the most of his shot.
In a social media video, he shared, “No excuses. I’ll put in the work and do what I have to do. Bout to be time to be legendary, whenever that time is.”
